Bieber seeks a comeback after hit new single is released

After a stormy two years, Justin Bieber is working on his big comeback.  Just over a year ago, the Biebs was arrested and charged with assault and reckless driving.

Recently, his hit single “What Do You Mean?” reached number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 just days after its release on Aug. 28.  The single was also ranked number one on charts in many countries, including the UK, Spain, New Zealand, and Australia.  In Canada, Bieber’s country of origin, “What Do You Mean?” had the largest total sales in one week of all singles in 2015.

“I love how ‘What Do You Mean?’ is so upbeat. The actual foundation of the song is so strong that I feel that any voice would go well with it, especially Justin’s.

I also think that maybe because it is his comeback song, its release was extremely hyped up to the point where the expectations were unreachably high.  I honestly believe that it is a solid start to his return, and his music now has the potential to get even better because of his serious focus,” said senior and lifelong Belieber Sydney Levy.

The lyric video to Bieber’s hit single was released on the same day as the song, followed by the debut of the music video two days later. Bieber is planning an album release on Nov. 13.

There has not been much information about the album, including its name, but it is expected to include music of several genres, such as pop, EDM, and R&B.  Because it is supposed to include songs that address his missteps, this album will be more personal than previous releases.

“What Do You Mean?” differs from his last single, “Where Are Ü Now,” because that was a collaboration with electronic artists Skrillex and Diplo.

Sources say that due to his success working with Skrillex and Diplo, there will be more collaborations with them on the upcoming album.

“I enjoy the song ‘What Do You Mean?’ because it portrays the idea of miscommunication between a boy and a girl. The song shows that there’s an understanding that girls often say or do what they think boys would like.  I feel that in order for Justin to continue to have a strong comeback, he should continue with the fast, upbeat songs rather than the slow romantic ones.  His past two hits were both upbeat and they were both some of his best,” said senior Sabrina Passauer.

Bieber, however, is still in the beginning stages on his way back to a steady career.

“Nothing’s gratifying quite yet because the job is not done.  It’s nice to see it being about the music again.  When Justin’s in front of a sold-out arena or stadium, doing what he loves—then I’ll be satisfied. Until then, we have a lot of work to do,” said Justin’s manager, Scooter Braun in an interview with Billboard.com.

Throughout the six years since Justin Bieber rose to stardom, he has been through the ups and downs of the industry.  While he may have stumbled in the past, it is clear that he is on his way back to the top.
