Top six picks to get your Netflix fix this season

Who doesn’t love an amazing binge-worthy show?  With Netflix removing shows every month, it’s important to watch all the good ones before it’s too late.

Friends

Friends, which follows a group of six friends as they deal with life and love in New York City, is one of the most beloved shows on television. The show has an outstanding cast with amazing chemistry, and people are still talking about it 23 years later. Rachel Greene (Jennifer Aniston), Ross and Monica Geller (David Schwimmer and Courteney Cox), Joey Tribianni (Matt LeBlanc), Phoebe Buffay (Lisa Kudrow), and Chandler Bing (Matthew Perry), are the lovable main characters of the show who have made audiences swoon for the past two decades.  From new jobs, relationships, breakups, and marriages, there was never a dull moment in the show’s ten seasons. Despite being considered a comedy, the relationships between characters and heartfelt moments on the show are what make Friends so popular.

The Office

The Office is a simple yet hilarious comedy that follows the lives of the workers of the Dunder Mifflin paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania.  Seem like a boring idea for a show?  That is what most say before they watch it, but they soon see that The Office incorporates all the best parts of a lighthearted comedy and emotional drama.

The main characters of the show, Michael (Steve Carell), Dwight (Rainn Wilson), Jim (John Krasinski), and Pam (Jenna Fischer), as well as all of the other office employees, make the show the amazing program that it is.  With its nine seasons and unique, documentary-style filming, viewers are able to delve deep into the lives of each character and connect with the favorite members of the Dunder Mifflin workforce.  If you are looking for a show that can make you laugh but also cry, The Office is definitely the program for you.

How I Met Your Mother

How I Met Your Mother is the perfect show for fans of Friends.  The show is narrated by Ted Mosby (Josh Radnor), as he, like the title implies, tells his kids the story of how he met their mother.

Each episode follows Ted’s life just before meeting his wife, where he spends his days with his friends Lily (Alyson Hannigan), Marshall (Jason Segel), Robin (Cobie Smulders), and Barney (Neil Patrick Harris), having fun and being young in New York City.  The dynamic that the unique narrative brings to the show helps to give it its fun and original feel.

Additionally, like in Friends, the happy tone of the show is developed by the strong friendships and relationships formed by all of the characters.  How I Met Your Mother is sure to leave you wanting to grow old in New York City with a fun group of lifetime friends.

Grey’s Anatomy

Grey’s Anatomy is a great show for teenagers and adults looking for an amazing drama focusing a group of doctors. Most wouldn’t think that a show about a hospital could captivate fans as much as Grey’s Anatomy has done for the past twelve years, since its premiere on March 27, 2005.

From the first years of the show, focusing on the original group of interns including George, Izzie, Cristina, Alex, and Meredith (who is the star of the show), the cast and dynamic of the show has changed vastly.  The one thing that has remained constant throughout all thirteen seasons of the show, however, is that each episode is filled with drama, friendship, sickness, and relationships.

Fan’s love the relationship Meredith has with Derek Shepherd, the main neurosurgeon at Seattle Grace Hospital.  Derek is played by the now famous actor Patrick Dempsey, who had his beginnings on Grey’s.  Although the show has changed greatly from the original program, fans continue to love the new storylines and worship the old characters that have stayed at the hospital through it all.

Gilmore Girls

Another fan favorite on Netflix is Gilmore Girls, a show about a daughter, Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) and her mother, Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham) as they learn and live together in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut.  The show focuses on the two Gilmore girl’s lives dealing with school, work, friendship, town, and most importantly family drama.  The relationship between mother and daughter in the show is heartwarming, and it one of the reasons why fans adore the program so much.  If you are looking for a feel good show that can make you laugh and smile, Gilmore Girls is a great option.

One Tree Hill

One Tree Hill focused on a group of teenagers in their high school in the town of Tree Hill, as they forge strong friendships and romantic relationships.  The beloved main characters of the show are Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray), Nathan Scott (James Lafferty), Haley James (Bethany Joy Lenz), Brooke Davis (Sophia Bush), and Peyton Sawyer (Hilarie Burton).

At the beginning of the show, there is a lot of tension between Lucas and Nathan Scott, as they have to cope with the fact that they are half brothers and fight for the position as the star of their school basketball team, but as the seasons progress their relationship grows into one of friendship and true brotherhood.

At the end of season four the main characters graduate from high school, and the show has five more seasons of their post high school lives as the character get married and start families.  The show allows fans to watch these characters grow up, change, and fulfill all of their dreams, causing viewers to feel truly attached to every character.  Once you finish One Tree Hill, you are sure to be wanting more of your favorite characters and relationships.
