The new fall flavor: coconut pumpkin

With the fall season upon us, you may find yourself surrounded by the normal beloved flavors, such as pumpkin spice and maple pecan.  While these are undeniably delicious, there is no question that they are a little worn out.

So, if you are getting sick of these stereotypical fall flavors, and on the hunt for something new, try acorn pie!  This pie would have candy corn and acorns in it, with the candy corns adding sweetness to an otherwise very nutty pie.

If you were interested in baking the actual pie the recipe is: one cup of roasted and crushed acorns, one cup of candy corn, ¼ cup sugar, ¼ cup maple syrup, and ½ cup apple juice.  Mix all ingredients together and put this in a pie crust.  Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Remove from oven, cool, and cut.

As you can see, this pie seems fairly simple to make. Almost every bodega or supermarket has coconuts or readily prepared shredded coconuts. You could even roast them. Yum!

This flavor could compliment almost anything you would like it to because of its basic nutty flavor.  Who knows, maybe you’ll find it in the new “Bath & Body Works” hand sanitizer, or even a “Bed Bath & Beyond” candle.

This pie may not sound very appetizing for people, but, when cooked and served the right way, it’s actually very tasty. Eating coconuts can actually be very beneficial for your skin too.
