It’s not very often that young artists become famous very quickly. However, this is not the case for 17 year-old singer Billie Eilish, who seems to have risen out of nowhere in the past year.

Eilish began as an artist on SoundCloud, and was immediately discovered by several major record labels.  She has since become a very popular artist in the music industry and a huge success in a very short amount of time.

Eilish was born into a family of actors and musicians, so it was no secret that she already had musical talent in her blood.  Also, Eilish was homeschooled, which gave her a lot of time to sing and work on her music.

She claims that much of her inspiration comes from watching her brother, Finneas, write and produce music. To this day, the two often work together on Eilish’s music.

Eilish’s fame began when she released the song “Ocean Eyes” on SoundCloud in 2016.  Once she was discovered, her song began to play on the radio and on other music streaming sites, such as Spotify and Apple Music.

Then, Eilish’s music started to blow up. In her early fame, Eilish’s song “Bored” was featured on the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why’s soundtrack.

“Billie’s immediate success is amazing and I love her music.  It’s so cool that she became so famous at such a young age,” said sophomore Sari Hartstein.

In 2017, Eilish released her debut album “Don’t Smile at Me,” which included many of the hits that made her famous in the first place, including “Ocean Eyes” and “Bored.”

The album made it to the top 40 on the Billboard 200 Chart.  After her first album was a success, Eilish began to work with some very famous artists, such as Khalid. Their song “Lovely” was certified platinum and reached the top 5 in several countries. If people didn’t know her name before this collaboration, they certainly knew it after.

As of right now, Eilish recently released the single “Bury a Friend” for her new album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, which has yet to be released.

The song can be described as extremely haunting, yet very catchy, which could also be said for the rest of her music.  Eilish’s style of music is very different from anything else on the radio today.

“I don’t even know what to call it. But it’s authentic. And I would call that rock n roll,” said rtist Dave Grohl.

When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? is set to be released on March 29, and she is going on tour this spring and summer.  The world is excited to see where her music takes her, and what will become of such an amazing young singer.
