People all around America were so excited for a new season of The Bachelor to come back on TV.  This season’s bachelor, Arie Luyendyk Jr., was on the show five years ago in The Bachelorette with Emily Maynard. He was sent home in the final round, losing the fight for Emily’s heart to Jef Holm (the two are no longer together). 

Arie is a 36 year-old racecar driver.  He claims that Emily broke his heart when he was sent home in 2012, and has had little romantic success since then.

The show begins with 29 girls, each more bubbly and blonde than the last. Believe it or not, on the premiere, eight girls were eliminated on the first night.  It is certainly upsetting for them, but there are still 20 others that Arie will have the chance to end up with. 

Here are some contestants of this season who we will learn to love…or hate.  Chelsea made quite the name for herself already, doing anything she could throughout the first night to be with Arie, even if it meant interrupting other girls’ time with him.  Then there is Tia, who is a friend of Arkansas’ own Raven Gates, from Nick’s season last year.

Another wonderful girl is Krystal, who helps out the homeless as much as she can, and is a fitness coach.  There is also Kendall, who introduced herself by singing in a tree and playing her ukulele.  These are only a fraction of the girls who appeared on the premiere episode.  Every girl has a different story and something new to bring to the show.

Most girls gave Arie an awkward hug, a nervous smile, or some cheesy jokes, but there are those few that really want to go above and beyond to impress him.  For instance, Bekah pulled up to the mansion in a bright red Mustang convertible, much to the dismay of the other women.  Another girl named Annaliese dressed up in a black mask because Arie’s nickname is “the kissing bandit.” It was a big laugh to Arie and fans who were watching.

Maquel showed up in a red and white race car and therefore she made a huge appearance at first.  When she took off her helmet, she dramatically flipped her hair.  All of the other girls were instantly jealous.  Another surprising fact is that this season features four different contestants named Lauren, which is going to be a little bit confusing for Arie and the other girls.

Arie feels like he grew up since the last time he was on the show and now he is really ready to hopefully fall in love.  After a long night of first kisses, interesting talks, and foot massages, Arie gave his first impression rose to Chelsea.  She was extremely happy, but the other girls were not impressed.  These girls will do anything to get a rose.

We will just have to wait and see what happens on the next episode. People are dying to know who will receive the roses next.  You can watch The Bachelor on ABC every Monday night at 8:00 PM.
