Funding Planned Parenthood is funding opportunity for all

Planned Parenthood is one of the nation’s leading providers of high-quality, affordable health care for women, men, and young people, as well as the country’s largest provider of sex education.  The organization, which has over 100 years of research and expertise in reproductive care, offers quality healthcare to anyone who needs it. By continuing funding for Planned Parenthood, we are helping protect access to health care like birth control, cancer screenings, and STD testing and treatment.  For the past century, Planned Parenthood has transformed women’s health and empowered millions of people worldwide to make informed health decisions, forever changing the way they live, love, learn, and work.

More than 200 million people in developing countries who want to delay or plan childbirth lack access to birth control, information, and services.  Pregnancy is a leading cause of death for adolescent girls worldwide—nearly 70,000 die every year from complications related to pregnancy and childbirth.  Half of the world’s population is under 25, yet young people often face stigma, cultural taboos, discrimination, and misinformation that prevents them from meeting their sexual and reproductive health needs. This is where Planned Parenthood comes in.

The primary goal of Planned Parenthood is providing expert health care.  Their expert nurses, doctors, educators, and health center staff are dedicated to bringing high-quality, affordable care to every member of their community.  One in five women in the U.S. have chosen Planned Parenthood for health care at least once in her life.
“The heart of Planned Parenthood is in the neighborhoods we serve — the unique communities where we work and live,” said plannedparenthood.org.

The organization’s 57 distinct and locally run Planned Parenthood partners are the umbrella for more than 600 health centers nationwide; each reflects the diverse needs of their communities.

The majority of Planned Parenthood’s services are preventive: care that helps prevent unintended pregnancies with birth control and sex education, reduce the spread of STDs through testing and treatment, and screen for cervical, breast, and other cancers.  Attentive physicians, nurse practitioners, and other staff take time to talk with you, so you’ll have an honest, supportive, non-judgmental space to ask questions and make informed decisions about your health and wellbeing.
Planned Parenthood provides young people with honest, factual health and relationship information — in classrooms, community centers, and online — to help protect their health and reduce our nation’s alarmingly high rates of unintended teen pregnancies and STDs.  Our Planned Parenthood affiliates provide educational programs and outreach to 1.5 million young people and adults every year.
For more than 45 years, Planned Parenthood Global, the international arm of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, has worked overseas to break down barriers to health care.  In partnership with more than 100 organizations across Africa and Latin America, Planned Parenthood advances the health and rights of young people, women, and families, with an emphasis on the most vulnerable and underserved.  The goal of Planned Parenthood is to empower allies around the world in providing, promoting, and defending access to care.

“We don’t operate Planned Parenthood health centers outside the United States.  Instead, we empower local partners and allies with resources, information, and support to stand strong on their own.  We help grassroots organizations develop solid reproductive health programs, identify other sources of funding, build their communications and advocacy skills, and develop strategic plans,” said the organization on plannedparenthood.org.
Planned Parenthood Global helps their partners provide tens of thousands of people with sexual and reproductive health education; the organization provides contraceptives, increases access to treatment for complications from unsafe abortion, and advocates for laws and policies promoting women’s health in Africa and Latin America.  Planned Parenthood Global also works with local partners in Africa and Latin America to help people overcome barriers to lifesaving reproductive health care and education.

Planned Parenthood works to educate and empower communities, provide quality health care, lead the reproductive rights movement, and advance global health.  Planned Parenthood believes sexual and reproductive health rights are basic rights.
On campuses and online, in statehouses and courts, in local communities, and in the media, Planned Parenthood is an outspoken, passionate advocate for policies that enable all people to access comprehensive reproductive and sexual health care, education, and information.

“Whether we’re talking to members of Congress, parents, or faith leaders, or arguing cases before the U.S. Supreme Court — we fight for commonsense policies that respect your right to make empowered, informed decisions about health, sex, and family planning,” said Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood has ten million activists, supporters, and donors working to protect access to health care and fundamental reproductive rights nationwide.  The Planned Parenthood Action Network empowers online activists in all 50 states to get involved with campaigns that advance reproductive health and women’s rights.
The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization formed as the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America.  Strengthening our commitment to protect women’s health, educate young people, and expand access to reproductive health care, the Action Fund does educational and electoral work, including public education campaigns, grassroots organizing, and legislative advocacy.

Planned Parenthood helps millions of people around the world obtain affordable health care.  Some are against Planned Parenthood for religious reasons because of the abortions they provide.  However, Planned Parenthood provides so much more; the organization provides women worldwide with education and the tools necessary to live happy and healthy lives.
