SuperSmash Bros Ultimate did not disappoint die hard gamers

The famous game developer Masahiro Sakurai has done it again with the latest installment in the Super Smash Bros. franchise: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Ultimate is truly making a smashing impact on all gamers and fans on the planet. Many things make this new game fun and unique. First of all, every character who has ever been in a Smash Bros game is playable, along with some new, fresh faces. You have the option to use old fan favorites like Mario, Link, and Pikachu, or to use the new fighter selection and reign supreme as the Inklings, Ridley, or King K. Rool.

The full roster is humongous, with a whopping total of 74 fighters, and more downloadable content as well. In addition, in the stage selection, every single stage makes a return, with a grand total of 103. Many game modes return to this jam-packed game, as well as completely new ones.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a great new game!” said sophomore Remi Haas.

Characters called Spirits are also crucial to the game. They can be used to upgrade a player’s fighter and to get involved in more Spirit Battles against powered-up and enhanced fighters. As you fight with the Spirit inside your fighter, it will grow stronger until its level maxes out and evolves. You can also take Spirits to battle against your friends and see who’s the best at Spirit-nabbing!

But, alas, there are far fiercer opponents than your friends, such as Galeem, the Lord of Light. Kirby, being the only survivor after the evil Galeem’s brutal attack, is tasked to rescue defeated fighters and Spirits in an effort to stop Galeem from taking over the universe in the new adventure mode, “World Of Light.” As you progress through the adventure and explore the mysterious realm, you gain fighters by defeating them in their “puppet” forms and the Spirits inside. This mode is mostly an open-world take on the Smash formula, making this the first time the series has had a long dramatic storyline since the Subspace Emissary in Super Smash Bros. Brawl (2008). With all of these additions and modes, you’ll never get enough of this game!

“The new features of this game make it super fun to play,

 said sophomore, Sari Hartstein.

The game has a feature called “Online Play,” as well as options to customize the fairness of the match and who you want to play with. Once you have enough confidence in your abilities online, you can participate in Century Smash, a no-holds inferno-like tournament against skilled players all around the world! The best part of this amazing experience is you can play it at home, or on the go. Change the system from home to handheld mode to really get the match started! Play with hand-held mode controls, a singular Joy-Con, a Pro Controller, or even the classic GameCube controller if you want to relive memories of the competitive days of Super Smash Bros.

“I’m so excited to play the new edition of this game,” said sophomore Avery Silfin.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate quickly became many Super Smash Bros. fans’ favorite game from the franchise to date. So, get your controllers out, choose your fighter, and have a smashing time with your friends!
