Netflix has all the holiday movies you want for Christmas

Are you looking for something festive to watch this holiday season? Then get some hot
chocolate, settle in by the fire, and tune in for some of Netflix’s best original holiday movies. Not
only does the streaming service have an enormous selection of classics like The Grinch, but
hours and hours of brand new movies directly made by Netflix.
These numerous options aren’t just limited to romantic comedies, though they make up
the vast majority. Netflix also offers many family friendly options, including animated films such
as Klaus and The Christmas Chronicles, also attracting older viewers with well known actors
and actresses such as J.K. Simmons, Kurt Russel, and Rashida Jones from Parks and
Recreation as voice actors.
“I watched Klaus, Netflix’s first original animated movie. The 2D animation was unique
considering the other animation styles from other movies and took getting used to. I thought the
concept was very interesting and gave a cool origin story on the well known Santa Claus.
Though it wasn’t a tear-jerker like Pixar, it was definitely enjoyable for the holiday season and I
would definitely recommend it,” said sophomore Kiera Darnell.
To get the word out about these movies and shows, Netflix has not only been using the
recommendations section and “autoplay” on Netflix itself, but posting on Instagram about
everything the streaming giant has released in the past year.
In a post from Dec. 3, “Characters not recognizing each other with the simplest disguises
on is truly one of the best things that happens in romcoms,” said the Netflix Instagram,
promoting their new original movie A Cinderella Story: Christmas Wish, starring Laura Marano
and Gregg Sulkin.
The romantic comedies widely vary from being based off of books to being completely
original. Let It Snow, an original based off of the young adult novel by John Green, tells the
story of a crazy snowstorm in a quiet Midwestern town that changes a group of high schoolers’
lives forever. This movie’s cast is definitely something to brag about, including stars from the
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Spiderman: Homecoming, Descendants, The Good Place, and
Another notable christmas romantic comedy is The Knight Before Christmas, starring
Vanessa Hudgens, who also stars in The Princess Switch. It tells the story of an unsuspecting
woman finding a medieval knight.
If these movies aren’t your type, don’t worry; Netflix has released multiple baking show
specials just for the holiday season. The beloved Great British Baking Show has two exciting
seasons of holiday baking, along with Nailed It! Holiday and Sugar Rush: Christmas. These
mouthwatering shows host tons of exciting guest stars, with Sugar Rush hosting Youtube star
Liza Koshy.
With amazing casts, interesting stories, and a wide variety of options to choose from, the
Netflix original holiday movies are definitely a must-see this holiday season.
