The upcoming winter months and holidays are upon us.  Along with this cozy and festive period are plenty of exciting and lovable activities in honor of the holiday season.  Port Washington offers countless winter events that are entertaining and welcome the holidays.   “ The holidays are my all time favorite part of the year.  If you are looking for a fun day trip activity this winter break as well as some good food, the New York Holiday Pop-UP is the perfect event. The Pop-UP is to take place on December 18th in Brooklyn at 12pm. Here guests will be able to explore a large variety of foods, holiday treats and cuisines.  Different food stands from restaurants all over will be present at the Holiday Pop-UP.  There is honestly nothing better than curling up with friends and family with hot chocolate to watch some of the best holiday movies.  It just brings everyone together, and it’s really a special time” said (11th Grade) (Chole Fanous).   Another event coming up in celebration of the holidays is the beloved Breakfast with Santa.  This event is located in the Roslyn Tapestry on December 19th  at 10am.   Breakfast with Santa allows guests of all ages to enjoy a delicious breakfast among holiday decorations as well as engage in a meet and greet with Santa Clause.  The menu for the breakfast is a holiday themed buffet ,and is perfect for friends and family of all ages.   “ Something I adore about the holidays are all the decorations.  I love seeing all the different lights on houses, each one is so unique but they all are so pretty.  The holiday decorations make the town, and community as a whole so much brighter“ said (11th Grade) (Tarah Parmar).  The Wisp and Wild Holiday Workshop is a perfect event for those who enjoy creativity and arts as well as the holidays, it is the perfect way to kick off  the winter break.   This event is scheduled for December 17th from 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Port Washington Local Market.  Here guests will be able to create their own holiday themed house warming gifts and more.  Such as constructing the perfect floral arrangement out of seasonal flowers and plants, incorporating the holidays into table setting decor, and arranging festive charcuterie boards for family and friends for every celebration.  Not only will there be entertaining activities to embark in during this event, there will also be plenty of seasonal treats to try, and for inspiration to make during your own holiday gatherings.  “ The Holidays are so amazing and so festive, I always have my family over at my house, and we all share this special time together.  Me and my cousins always fight over my grandma’s snicker doodle cookies, and then after dinner we usually take a drive around our neighborhood to admire all the decorations, it’s one of my favorite traditions’ ‘ said (12th Grade) (Tessa Klugman).  Not only are there many different events for the holidays in town there are also many different holiday activities to engage in during this season.  The Port Washington Ice Skating Rink is open to all.  During this season the rink sets up a beautiful holiday display, and plays festive and upbeat music for its guests.  The rink is a perfect winter activity to do with friends and family.   You can even reserve a holiday skating party for larger gatherings.  “ Something me and my friends always do over winter break is have a holiday bake off.  We all go over to someone’s house, we spend the day baking our own desserts, and spending time together in the kitchen.  Then after we watch a movie and share everything we made.  It is so fun and it’s a great way to make group hangouts festive” said (11th grade) (Isabella Abramson).  By having so many fun, festive, and exciting activities to offer, Port makes the community come even closer together during this season.  So this holiday season make sure to check out some of these amazing activities with friends and family.
