As we emerge from the winter season, the months of April, May, and June have so much in store for Schreiber students—warmer weather, longer days, and of course, prom.  Junior and senior prom are two of the biggest and most anticipated events of the entire school year.  However, preparations for prom start well in advance to the actual party and can be quite stressful.  Purchasing a prom dress is exciting, but it can also be extremely tiresome and tedious. 

 “Buying a prom dress has been a really fun process.  I have been looking at different designs to get a sense of what I want for a while, but now I’m finally going into stores on a hunt to actually purchase one.  Shopping for dresses is exhausting after a while, but it’s also a really great way to take your mind off other things and relieve stress,” said junior Tarah Parmar. 

For junior prom, shorter hemmed dresses are traditional, as opposed to the senior prom, where longer, evening gowns are typically worn.  Many have been admiring the Princess Polly mini-dresses as possible junior prom attire.  These dresses have been trending this season, especially due to the company’s viral debut on TikTok.  Princess Polly has many great and affordable options and  both simple and more avant-garde dresses. In addition, their website features a special tab for homecoming dresses, making this brand a great candidate for prom dress shopping.

“I am so excited for this year’s prom.  I can’t wait to get all dressed up and put on glamorous makeup with my friends.  I have been looking for my dress and I finally have narrowed it down to a few different options.  I am not sure which one I am going to choose just yet, however I know I will love it, since all of the dresses I have found have been favorites,” said junior Izzy Abramson.  

Another hot brand this prom season is Lucy in the Sky.  This company also displays a collection designated for prom/homecoming dresses online, which can make the browsing process much more efficient and less overwhelming.  Lucy in the Sky features both mini and regular evening gowns, which makes the label perfect for both juniors and seniors.  They offer an extremely wide variety of different styles, patterns, cuts, and designs..  A dress from Lucy in the Sky is guaranteed to leave a lasting impression, whether it be at junior or senior prom. 

 “I absolutely love my dress and I’m beyond excited to wear it!  Recently, I have been researching good hair and makeup looks, and also have been browsing for a corsage, which has to match my dress,” said senior Tessa Klugman. 

Finding a dress is the biggest to-do when it comes to prom, but accessories such as jewelry, shoes, hair, makeup, and corsages are still essentials nonetheless.  Classic white and red rose corsages are elegant and timeless, but finding a corsage with a pop of color such as one with pink orchards or vibrant lilies is a fun and unique look.  Corsages can be purchased anywhere from  Amazon to a professional florist.  No matter where it is bought from, a corsage is the cherry on top of a perfect prom look.  

“Looking for a dress was so much fun.  I still need to find the perfect shoes though.  Since most of the heels that I’ve liked so far are a little bit too uncomfortable, I need to keep looking,” said junior Chloe Fanous.
