Harry Styles Produces his Third Album
After a three-year hiatus from releasing new music, singer Harry Styles will return with his third album, Harry’s House on May 20, 2022. The highly anticipated 13-track album features the hit single “As It Was,” which topped the charts when it was released on Apr. 1.
Because Styles was scheduled to headline Coachella in Apr. and hadn’t released new music in quite some time, fans were anticipating a big comeback. On Mar. 23, Styles posted the new album cover on Instagram with the caption “Harry’s House. May 20th.” Prior to this post, fans online had noticed a strange website titled YOUAREHOME.com, that was rumored to be related to the artist. On the website at noon, an image of a door would open containing a new and unique photo, somehow related to Styles. The cryptic website was confirmed to be connected to Styles, since he and his team followed the YOUAREHOME accounts on social media the day before the album was announced.
The Grammy-winning artist has many other projects coming out this year in addition to Harry’s House. Styles will be starring in two major motion pictures being released in2022, Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman. Don’t Worry Darling, in which Styles stars alongside Florence Pugh and Chris Pine, will be released on Sept. 23. My Policeman will also be released before the end of the year. Style’s acting debut was in Dunkirk in 2017, he proved to be a multifaceted talent.
Styles had been on tour for the past year, having concluded with the U.S. leg of his Love On Tour tour.
“I saw Harry Styles at UBS Arena on Nov. 28. The show was amazing, and his stage presence was incredible.” said freshman Kaitlyn Schecter.
He plans to tour Europe and South America this year, and will be going to Australia in the spring of 2023. Since the remaining legs of the tour will be done after its release, it is unclear whether he will be performing songs from the new album.
Fans and followers are excited about the new album, as it has been so long since Styles released his last one. With the first taste of the album, the hit single “As It Was” continues to be number one on the Billboard Hot 100 as of Apr.29.
With all the excitement surrounding Styles, he opened on the first night of Coachella on Apr.l 15 with his new song. He came onto stage in a sequined jumpsuit and sang many of his popular songs, such as “Watermelon Sugar” and “Adore You.” Later in the set, he brought out country singer Shania Twain, where they sang “Man! I Feel Like A Woman” and “Still The One”. During his second performance on Apr. 22, Styles wore a neon pink leather pants and vest set with his initials plastered on his pants. This time, he brought out Lizzo, where they sang “I Will Survive” by Gloria Gaynor. After their performance, Lizzo posted a selfie of the two backstage that fans adored.
“Lizzo and Harry are some of my favorite artists, and I could not have asked for a better duo at Coachella,” said freshman Eva Franchetti.
After Coachella, Styles was interviewed by Better Homes and Gardens and will be featured on the cover of their June issue. In the interview, Styles opens up about his sexuality and days in One Direction. Styles revealed how he felt ashamed of himself and his sexuality in the band and “felt free” once he left. Styles feels he should not have to label himself sexually to be accepted by the public.
“…the whole point of where we should be heading… [is] about not having to label everything,” said Harry Styles to Better Homes and Gardens.
In the article, he mentions how he would rather keep his personal life and relationships away from the public eye, which can be a struggle for huge stars like him.
“His sexuality isn’t anyone else’s business, so I could totally understand why he wants it kept private,” said freshman Sarah Germana.
Harry Styles continues to be an artist with a huge following. As he ventures into new fields of work and releases a new album, fans of music and movies alike will become even bigger fans of this rising star. His performances at Coachella were a hit, and this new album may be as well.
