Many artists view the summer season as a prime time to release new albums and singles. However as summer begins to come to a close there is one artist that is notorious for dominating the fall season with her music. This time last year Taylor Swift stunned her fans and people all over the world with her re-release of her album Red. Not only did she revive her old classics, she revisited one of her triumphs and made it completely her own. The 10 minute version of All Too Well caused a frenzy in the media and was accompanied by a short film inspired by her own relationship, starring Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien. But this fall season, Taylor Swift has even bigger and better plans, as she announced her brand new album Midnights.

    “ I absolutely love Taylor Swift. I grew up with her music and I really appreciate the way she remade some of her old hits. It got me listening to old songs of hers that I didn’t even know existed. But I’m beyond excited for this new album. It has been so long since Taylor has released completely new and original music and I can’t wait to give it a listen”. Said ( 12th Grade) ( Izzy Abramson).

       At the 2022 MTV VMA Awards, Taylor Swift announced that she would be releasing an entirely new album that she had named Midnights, on October 21st. This announcement immediately broke the media, since it is one of the first original new albums that Swift would be releasing since Evermore which was released in December of 2020. After two long years of waiting Swift fans will finally embark on a brand new album, and a brand new Taylor Swift era. As Midnights already appear to be vastly different from the eerie and thoughtful Folklore and Evermore eras.

       “ I think Midnights is going to be a whole new side of Taylor Swift that the public has never seen before. I think it will be a mix of all of her past eras, mixing pop, country, and indie music all together. I’m so excited for its release”. Said (10th Grade) (Aria Goldstein).

      Many Swift fans have conspiracy theories about this upcoming album. This is due to Taylor Swift’s  long history of easter eggs and hidden messages prior to album releases. Many suspect that there is a deeper meaning behind the name of the album. Since the word midnight has had a constant pattern in many of Taylor Swift’s greatest hits. Songs like Style, 22, You Belong With Me, All Too Well, and Ready For It? all share a common idea of the phrase midnight/middle of the night. 

      “ I’m really looking forward to Taylor Swift’s new album. She has been around forever and she never fails to produce amazing music. She also makes some of the best music videos of all time, and I’m sure this album will be no different”. Said (12th Grade) (Carly Fanous).

         As we move closer and closer to the release date of Midnights, more and more clues and information will be revealed. Millions are awaiting October 21st to listen to the 13 songs on the tracklist that Taylor described as “ the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life”. If one thing is clear, it is that Midnights is bound to be one of Swift’s most dramatic and anticipated albums yet.
