The 2024-2025 school year has been off to a great start, with students across all grades joining clubs and meeting new teachers. Another exciting addition to Schreiber as of this year is the StudentSquare app. This app is meant to replace the app Remind, and will keep the Schreiber community updated on all the events and important information needed to have a successful year.
StudentSquare is extremely new to the students and teachers in this school, and they were familiarized with the app a few days after the start of the school year. Training staff on how to use the StudentSquareapp before school starts would have been more beneficial because it allows for smooth integration of the new platform.
“StudentSquare is such a great addition to our school’s communication system. I think that teachers should know how to use the app prior to school starting because it allows students to understand the app works sooner rather than later. I also think that teachers should learn how to use the app before school starts because this knowledge will help teachers feel more comfortable as the school year begins,” said junior Noelia Grullon.
Technology is not the easiest thing to manage, and is constantly becoming more sophisticated. The StudentSquare app was introduced to Schreiber at the beginning of the year, and most students are having trouble navigating the app. All teachers are excited to be back at school, but having yet another app to adjust to while equipping students for the year ahead is exhausting for most. Having the teachers ready to use the app prior to school starting is helpful, minimizing the teachers’ stress and providing them with more time to learn something new.
“Although I did enjoy using Remind, I think having the StudentSquare app will be extremely helpful to all Schreiber students. I think teachers should be taught how to use StudentSquare before school begins because it elongates the process and allows every student and teacher to truly know how to navigate the app,” said junior Carly Sommer.
As many of us know, there are often technical issues that occur at our school—preparing both teachers and students to use StudentSquare ahead of time would eliminate any future technological problems regarding the app. Introducing new platforms to our school community before the school year starts would lead to less frustration and more productivity.
“StudentSquare is going to be extraordinarily useful for all students and teachers. As this new and exciting app is introduced to our school, we should be prepared to access it by having the teachers get taught how to use it before school starts. As a sophomore in high school, having an app like StudentSquare would really help me. I would be constantly updated on information needed throughout the year and events going on throughout the school. I hope to see this app grow and be used by all students,” said sophomore Mio Lanfant.
This app is extremely beneficial in many ways—it provides students and teachers with organization tools and reminders, and allows them to access important information about all aspects of the school in just one click. However, teachers and students should be trained to use new apps like StudentSquare before the school year starts to make the transition into the new year as seamless as possible.
