The library is a place where students can do their homework, study for tests or quizzes, or even relax until their next class. Unfortunately, the library tends to close off some of the tables, which has become an annoyance to many of the students at Schreiber.
Many Schreiber students are becoming increasingly irritated with the fact that most days out of the week, half the tables are blocked off and students who want to stay in the library end up having nowhere to sit. This causes a lot of students to have to go to the commons or the cafeteria, which is much harder to do work in because of the amount of noise.
The students that aren’t allowed to go off campus, like freshman and sophomores, need more space in the library because of the limits in the places that they can do work or relax.
Since many students do after school activities or sports, they rarely have enough time to complete all their homework and studying when they get home. Having open tables throughout the entire day ensures that all students have the opportunity to get their work done and succeed academically.
Many students find that doing work in the school library is relaxing and enjoyable because they get to be with their friends while getting their work done. Some students need a space to work that is mostly quiet and less distracting, and that place would be the library. Those students won’t have to get distracted easily and will have a better environment to do whatever they need to do to be successful.
The students that have a hard time focusing in louder environments will benefit immensely from having a better chance of getting a seat in the library instead of being forced to go to the commons or the cafeteria, where it is much louder.
The library is a huge space and should not be cut off for students to not be able to use. Even though juniors and seniors are allowed to go off campus, they still are assigned tons of work while having to prepare for SATs, ACTs, and college applications.
Being able to get most of that work done before school ends, on either their off periods or lunch periods, is extremely beneficial for all students, so having all the tables open in the library gives Schreiber students equal opportunities to achieve these goals of getting their work done before school ends.
