Rosa’s Pizza is a new pizza place in Port Washington that opened toward the end of this summer, creating an opportunity for the pizza, pasta, and salad lovers to enjoy classic dishes. With the building previously being unoccupied for years, Rosa’s spent time refurbishing before officially being ready to open their doors to the Port Washington community in Sept. 2025
Rosa’s Pizza is a family business that has been running for over 50 years, aiming to reflect their traditions in their recipes and menu offerings. They started the business in 1975, with their first establishment in Maspeth, Queens, where they still operate today. Beyond that, the business has expanded across New York City and Long Island, from the new Port Washington location to another recently opened building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. All locations have ratings over 4 stars, with over 800 reviews from just three of their locations.
“It took a bit longer than we anticipated to get everything just right, but being fully established was absolutely worth the wait and trouble. Bringing Rosa’s to Port Washington has been so rewarding. The community here has been incredibly welcoming, and we’re so happy to finally be part of it. We’ve been blown away by the support from the community, and it’s always exciting to see customers fall in love with the same classic pies that have been part of Rosa’s since day one. We really hope Rosa’s becomes a staple in Port Washington; a go-to spot where families gather, teams celebrate, and friends meet for a great meal. We’re big believers in community, and our goal is to give back and grow alongside the neighborhood,” said Rosa’s Pizza co-owner Angela LoBello.
Along with being a pizzeria known for their pies, Rosa’s offers numerous menu options for those who are looking for a bite to eat but don’t feel like pizza. Their menu offers multiple salad options, numerous pasta options, various sandwich-type meals and a myriad of soups and appetizers, from lentil soup to buffalo wings and mozzarella sticks.
Despite only opening a couple months ago, Rosa’s is already working on new menu items and seasonal specials, and are also hoping to host some community gatherings and local events in the future. They are interested in expanding their catering offerings for schools, parties, and local businesses, bringing that same quality to every kind of gathering. One of the main focuses of this family-founded and family-operated business is giving back to the community. They hope to fulfill that by hosting or catering community events around Port Washington.
“Rosa’s pizza is really good. They have nice staff there, and even though they are really busy sometimes, your order still is done very quickly because they are all about the customers. Rosa’s has many different types of pizza each with a unique taste and even though I have only tried a couple, they are amazing! In addition, they have a Gelato section on the opposite side store with extremely good ice cream and multiple flavors! I believe everyone should try Rosa’s pizza because it is one of the best pizza places in town!” said sophomore Sophia Gebbie.
Rosa’s Pizza’s location right outside both Schreiber and Weber is so convenient for students and teachers if they want someplace to eat during or after school that is close by. The establishment has some seating in the main room when you walk in as well as seating in a back section that is usually used for bigger events.
“Rosa’s Pizza has quickly become my favorite pizza spot in all of Port Washington. I could instantly tell that this wasn’t any ordinary pizza place, but one that showcased its Italian roots in every slice. I was blown away by the classic cheese pizza and Sicilian slice because of the flavor. I could tell that all the ingredients are very fresh. Along with the food being good, the staff is always so friendly. I’ve been there right before closing and they gave me slices and garlic knots on the house. Lastly, I appreciate how they are open so late. During the tennis season, after a late game I’d be able to go at 9 p.m. when all of the other restaurants were closed,” said sophomore Lily Salit.
