Seven Paul D. Schreiber High School students were selected to showcase their work in The Art Guild’s Nassau County Juried Art Competition and Exhibition. Their artwork will be on display throughout Nov.
Every year, The Art Guild holds a Juried Art Competition for 2D and 3D artwork, with deadlines in Oct. and exhibitions in Nov. The juried competition provides students experience in the professional art world, giving them the opportunity to have their work evaluated by judges and displayed in a gallery setting.
Schreiber juniors Joelle Bedard, Liza Chan, Eliza Elbaum, Vivian Muller, Harper Rejwan, Annabel Roth, and Schreiber sophomore Elle Tannenbaum all earned the distinction of having their work on display.
“Having my painting showcased at The Art Guild feels really rewarding. It’s nice to know that something I put so much time and effort into can be appreciated by others,” said junior Liza Chan.
The Art Guild held the reception of its Nassau County High School Students Juried Art Competition on Saturday, Nov. 2. Eighty five artists were selected to showcase their work, with 300 people in attendance at the reception.
“I was honored to be in the showcase with such other amazing artists. I was blown away by the talent,” said junior Harper Rejwan.
The selection committee for the competition reviewed all submissions separately, and chose which entries were accepted to be exhibited. The awards were presented to the top three finishes, as well as honorable mentions.
Funds from this competition go toward providing classes to artists at a reduced cost, maintaining the exhibitions and gallery, as well as offering free community events. Serving as the sole visual arts center in Port Washington, The Art Guild is a hub for artists, students, and families.
