AP testing

s will be of no benefit to students.  In order to take an AP Test, students must already be highly knowledgeable in the subject in which they are being tested.  Thus, making students prepare for standardized tests that come after the AP Exams such as the Regents and finals will not help students in better understanding the topic.  A student’s performance and understanding of the material that is covered in an AP course should be solely judged on their ability to do well on the AP test.  Instead of their performance being judged by the letter grade on their transcript, colleges will mainly make their judgment based on the score on the AP test.  Therefore, a final that has an effect on a student’s letter grade will be almost useless when considering the benefits it provides.

“A student’s performance in an AP class should be based on their score on the AP test that the course specifically prepares them for instead of a Regents or final,” said junior Nicolas Garcia.

However, students need to be tested as it has unfortunately become the reality of a flawed schooling system.
